WGBH Network 'Arthur' Responds To The Internet's Explicit Memes

Arthur, a children’s cartoon show that launched on PBS almost 20 years ago, is known for developing a fan base from the likes of kids around the world. But leave it to social media to alter his perception by twisting the character into explicit memes.

The memes have taken over the Internet, rebranding Arthur into still pictures with hard-core captions. The statements to accompany some of these memes are set to relate to the average person’s everyday life, or a funny, modern moment.

The network that originated the show isn’t pleased with the way the ‘Net has been portraying the character. WGBH, located in Boston, recently released a statement against the likes of his representation.

“We appreciate the memes that have been created and shared in good fun. We are, however, disappointed by the few that are outside of good taste.”

Check out a few of the light jokes from the memes below.
